Let’s discuss skills.
Hardworking, talented, lazy, untalented?
Privileged or underprivileged?
As long as you have food on the table,
Shelter over your head
This might help you.
How?
Let’s dive in!
What are you great at?
Don’t be shy or doubtful.
We all have something,
Some of us know it, and others might have to look deeper,
At the end of the day, it doesn’t make any difference.
What you are great at almost always develops to
Compensate for what you are terrible at.
Generally, we all have primary & secondary cognitive functions.
Almost 99% of them heavily influence what you gravitate towards, and
Become good at.
We all tend to gravitate toward what we are good at, and
Avoid what we are bad at.
Your operating system for processing reality (a 3D-to-3D render) comes naturally to you.
The idea of gravitating towards what we are good at creates biased & asymmetrical development resulting in incoherent skills.
Sometimes our strengths develop to unimaginable heights.
Meanwhile, our weaknesses atrophy.
It becomes more of a limitation as the gap between our strengths and weaknesses widens.
What happens next is the title of this article:
We end up “Overcompensating” for the attributes we lack.
We often neglect the logical side of this equation, and
Only develop the emotional and physical side of the equation.
Overcompensating is that area we make up for the lack of knowledge, speed, & skills.
Do you know how it affects our creativity?
What do we do?
We usually resort to our cognitive strengths.
Investing everything in upgrading our creativity,
Which consists of content, ideas, concepts, analogies, & integration.
For example, let’s talk about point-based metrics to explain this.
Let’s say I am a musician and my content is 8.3/10.
Grading my articulation account for 2.5/10.
My distribution is 1.2/10.
If my content upgrades to 8.5/10 from 8.2/10,
It’s not a significant difference in my overall performance.
The content will be slightly better, which is just 3.6%.
If I upgrade my articulation to 5.0/10, that doubles the effectiveness of the content.
What if I increase the distribution from 1.2/10 to 6.2/10,
That’s an astonishing development, a 6 fold increase.
This leads to a Day & Night difference in outcomes.
In a practical sense, it’s the difference between making a massive full-time income and making nothing from sharing my content.
Are you wondering about the reality of this equation?
Talented People
Generally, talented people underestimate their ability and value,
Talented ones end up compensating at first, and gradually cultivate their skills over time because it’s playing to their primary cognitive functions.
For them, it feels effortless and normal.
They don’t carry an intense contrast between the sacrifices they made & the amount of energy exerted.
Untalented People
Quickly obtains the minimum viable level of skills.
This process provides high contrast, and they can feel the price to pay.
Providing them with a perception of value from this contrast and energy exertion.
They feel like producing content or making products exert effort to accomplish the final objective.
This is why they are adaptable, change their work, and put themselves out there.
They are brave.
They end up overestimating themselves.
This is why the talented are faced with friction to change & adapt. They may never change due to their self-fulfilling-prophecy-type beliefs.
They never put themselves out there in the wild and underestimate their capacity.
Both Talented & Untalented require integrating the opposite to get their desired results and serve others at their highest level.
The talented must acknowledge their value, develop a distribution system, and put their content out in the wild.
Creativity has to be honored.
The untalented requires an understanding of their value and investment back into their development and skills to be further enhanced.
Let’s figure out another way to process the equation.
In Dating
As a personal example,
I kept doubling down on my strength and didn’t acknowledge my weaknesses enough.
Ended up enhancing the charisma and looks, but I was completely missing the opposite side of the equation, which resulted in only “attraction” with no “retaining.”
The opposite is someone who is great at retaining but has no attraction, essentially falling into the hole of “friend zone.”
Knowing the inverse of characters isn’t really a matter of superiority or inferiority.
Almost everyone’s strengths are the overcompensation for their weaknesses.
The highest levels of development occur at the integration of both.
It’s not that our strengths are inadequate; instead, it’s our own weaknesses that prevent us from realizing the truth.
This is another misconception we unconsciously make in our interpretation of reality.
When we are not getting the results, we have nothing, which makes us feel like we need everything.
In reality, we are only missing something.
Think of it this way,
You are getting late for the meeting, and your car won’t start.
Does that mean everything about the car is broken?
No, it’s “something” that is broken, not “everything.”
It’s pretty much adding that “something” you are missing.
Remember, we were discussing numbers earlier?
Levels 8.0 +
When things get complex & advanced.
Everything before level 8.0/10 is direct & straightforward interpretations.
Who doesn’t start “something” to change “something”?
But that “something” changes “everything.”
Going from 0 to 1 is a 100% change in the outcome.
From “no” results to “some” results.
From “no” experience to “some” experience.
The shift is significant because when we are at “nothing,” it can feel like we need “everything.”
In reality, by doing “something” instead of “nothing.”
That’s what changes “everything.”
Doing “something” for the distribution & making strategies instead of “nothing” yields a 100% “change” in the outcome.
Everything is not required to change Everything.
Integration of the weakness provides a paradigm shift in the outcomes.
Think about when you did “something” to get experience and gain points for “experience,” which leveled up your skills.
The better you get, the more difficult it becomes to get even better at a particular skill.
That doesn’t mean you should stop developing your strengths, but we need to be aware of the overcompensation and our neglect of the opposite.
It’s like wrestling with the opposite polarity that holds you back like a rubber band.
Thus, making “you” the biggest obstacle in your pursuit instead of anything else.
You don’t need to be precisely at the same skill level.
It doesn’t need to be a 1:1 ratio to see the paradigm-shifting results.
Rather than becoming “One” in any direction they point to, it can only further divide your strengths & weaknesses. You end up weakening yourself.
Compensating Vs. Complimentary
From our earlier numerical pseudo-analysis, the distribution of content can go to 6/10, and it will be complimenting instead of hindering 8.2/10 at content.
It’s pretty universal.
A large part of why people require stimulants of any kind is to compensate and power through a poorly designed system.
It’s an inefficient and ineffective system.
The incoherence of the system design requires an abnormal force to achieve minuscule results.
People gravitate toward supplements & other coping mechanisms to help overcome and overcompensate for their poorly designed, inefficient, & ineffective systems.
Once we become aware of this phenomenon, we all start at different points around the perimeter and start moving towards the optimal position for integrating our strengths and weaknesses.
Sometimes,
One needs to slow down & the other needs to speed up.
One needs attraction & the other needs retention.
One needs to gain weight & the other needs to lose weight.
Both the overweight & underweight person experience similar symptoms of medical issues like joint pain & organ failures in the end due to the incoherent system.
They require opposites.
They also require similarities like exercise, healthy food consumption, hydration, & reduced stress levels to achieve their goal.
The further away you are from the initiative to achieve the optimal system, it will generate zero-none satisfaction & poor-none outcomes.
The closer you are to the optimal level, the better you become at gaining satisfaction & achieving the desired outcome.
This article is all about bringing the primary focus and attention to the paradigm-shifting effect of simply switching a weakness from negatively impacting you to ending up not compensating for your strength.
It’s a profound effect.
Not only does this decrease your resistance, but it also increases the flow of your power.
Do you remember “Ohm’s Law” from your high-school physics?
“The amount of current is directly proportional to the voltage applied to the circuit and inversely proportional to the resistance of the circuit” - Ohm’s Law
When you remove the resistance of weakness, you also remove the required energy your strength was compensating for.
They are intertwined in their effects on each other.
It reaches a point where people in their journey are forced to “follow a certain way” or “be the sheep” when the gap between their strengths and weaknesses is too substantial.
You end up seeing or experiencing a devastating pattern.
Understanding the compensatory law and polarisation, you will see it everywhere.
Look at Kanye spitting some facts again.
The ones who are both are often scarce and exceptional.
This type of pseudo-symmetry is invisible.
It’s unconsciously working (before) against us to compensate on the surface level for lacking the substance of a system or product.
The package was mediocre, so the packaging had to compensate.
People are likely to gravitate toward the cognitive strengths of logical systems.
When you keenly observe, it wasn’t malicious intent which did this.
“Assume ignorance before malevolence”.
We can call the more logical type gravitating toward strategic systems, distribution, analysis, & packaging.
The inverse is the more creative type.
The packaging is excellent, but then the packaging is ineffective.
Their distribution has no logic to it.
Their systems are non-existent.
They end up gravitating towards and doubling down on the strength of making the product or their substance to overcompensate.
Both require the development of the opposite for a paradigm shift in their results and to truly serve others better.
The conflicts, distributions, and lack of equilibrium cause most of the frustrations in oneself and others.
To see considerable differences in your outcome, your weakness doesn’t need to be as excellent as your strength.
It simply requires the development from a negative hindrance to a complimentary strength.
This is the great transition we make in our personal and professional development.
When you proactively choose to keep growing, you select your own catalyst and the challenges you choose to continue growing.
Before, it was a matter of being self-challenged & wrestling with our own weaknesses that forced the tension to grow reactively.
Don’t worry; the game is designed in such a way you will keep growing of your own will or not.
Because (from Belief Vs. True Self-Belief)
Man becomes the problem when there is an absence of a problem.
The subconscious is intelligent and more thoughtful than you think. It will trick you into helping you gain insights, understand and develop your skills and become your highest self.
Our subconscious mind is always desperate to solve problems. It will assist you by creating a problem for you to solve.
The subconscious mind has plenty of leverage.
To get the outcome you desire, you will need to go on a voyage through the complexity of reality to get it.
If you choose to stop growing once you start seeing results, gradually similar to muscle attributes, you atrophy without action.
“Use it or lose it”
Results will slip, and some negative catalyst or challenge will present itself; you will keep growing by your own will.
You’ll grow either way.
Self-challenged means you pick your own battles for yourself, or they will come to you.
It means you challenge yourself.
So no, the equilibrium doesn’t stop you from growing.
But, what stops growth is when the self stops growing, doing better only when a catalyst of something negatively forces it.
When you choose your own challenges or battles, you grow on your own terms when challenges aren’t presented to you.
It’s more of a mindset than an attribute of the objective reality.
We struggle at our best.
We struggle at our worst.
Tension, growth, and evolution will always be there.
It’s not because our strengths are inadequate; instead, our weaknesses obstruct our realizations of the truth and the results.
There’s a lot of jargon in this article but the motive is to simply make you move from the couch and get things done.
Thank you.
